Japan: Heavy, Wet Snow Hits Hokkaido, Brings Power Outage Threat

Widespread snowfall blanketed many parts of Hokkaido on Monday, December 8, turning the region into a winter landscape. Much of today’s snow was heavy and wet, and areas with strengthening winds faced the risk of blowing snow, reduced visibility, and possible power outages caused by snow accretion.

UK: Heathrow Airport Evacuated Following Hazardous Materials Scare

21 people reported injuries after Terminal 4 at Heathrow Airport was closed temporarily and evacuated on Monday, September 8, following a “possible hazardous materials incident.” The terminal was reopened, and the nature of the incident has not been disclosed and the Metropolitan Police announced that no trace of any "adverse substance" was found.
